Ideology Theology book cover by Caleb Rowden

Faith.
Politics.
Culture.
Collision.

A new book by Caleb Rowden, coming 2026.

What is Ideology Theology?

Ideology Theology is the lens through which we examine how our beliefs about God shape our politics—and how, too often, our politics reshape what we believe about God.

It's the recognition that theology doesn't exist in a vacuum. It influences how we vote, govern, protest, and lead. But when ideology becomes the filter for our theology—rather than the other way around—we end up with a faith that justifies power instead of challenging it, that comforts echo chambers instead of confronting truth.

Ideology Theology invites us to flip the script: to let timeless spiritual truth inform our public life, rather than letting partisan tribes determine our theology. It's about reclaiming faith as something deeper than a political accessory and seeing the Gospel as something bigger than any platform or party.

Inside the Book

Echoes of Eden

The original lie wasn't about fruit. It was about authority.

Eden was the site of the first political decision—who gets to define good and evil. Long before nations and campaigns, there was a command, a tree, and a choice. That choice still echoes in every ideology that promises salvation apart from surrender.

Back to the Beatitudes

When the pursuit of power becomes primary, the Kingdom takes a back seat to the campaign. Jesus didn't bless the victorious; He blessed the poor in spirit, the meek, the peacemakers. The order of the Beatitudes isn't random—it exposes whether we're seeking God's Kingdom or just asking Him to bless ours.

C.S. Lewis vs. Karl Marx

When ideology becomes your god, grace dies.

The answer isn't disengagement from public life—it's reordering our priorities so faith shapes our politics, not the other way around. Renewal doesn't come from policies or parties; it comes heart by heart, home by home, from a Gospel still alive in ordinary people willing to lead differently.
